I had so much pain, um, in the left side of my face, my ear. It was just the worst pain I have ever felt. It was just this throbbing, stabbing pain that would just…it would come, go away… come, go away…but when it came it just like, someone was taking a hot poker and putting it in my ear.

And it turned out when I went to the emergency room, the doctor said my ear was loaded with blisters.

As time went on, Vanessa experienced more symptoms during her shingles episode.

So, I must have, um, little sores in my head that I’m not aware of. It was very painful to wash my hair. Even though it needed it, I had to do it, so I kept going. Even the comb out in the shower while my hair was wet was very painful.

I just don’t feel good today, I woke up not feeling good. I didn’t have good night’s sleep, even though I took something to help me sleep uhm with the pain. But I woke up with still the same pain in my ear. Tingling and uhm, itching around my mouth. I’ve had a headache and earache pretty much all day. I’m very, very exhausted. I didn’t do anything today but lay around the house…fix me something to eat…and laid around some more. Uhm, it’s really getting to me because I’m going into my third week of dealing with this.

I would compare the shingles pain that I’ve been experiencing to nothing I’ve ever felt before. I would rather have my 2 children again than go through this pain. This pain is nothing, nothing like I have ever felt in my life.

If I had known that shingles was going to be like this…I think I would have better educated myself.
