This is not fun, and it's just getting in the way of all of my life. Everything that...from doctor's appointments um, to social events, everything.

So here I am on Day 13, the evening of Day 13 with shingles. It’s amazing how it affects everything in your life. Uhm, what clothes you wear, what you decide to do, who you see.

It’s depressing because I’ve had this now for 13 days, it’s not getting any better.

The pain from shingles was like a very bad sunburn.

Knowing that I missed events with my family. Knowing that I can’t make those up. It, it…it really hurts.

Shingles impacted walking my dog. I couldn’t do it. I had to have somebody walk her. I felt like I was letting my dog down, and uh, that made me…that made me sad and depressed too because I couldn’t do the daily activities that normally I’m used to doing.

I didn’t really know what the uh timeframe of shingles was. Uh, doing research I did know that it could last for weeks, and that really affected my emotional uh state because I thought that I was in for a long haul.

I think that doctors could educate their patients more on where the virus comes from, and how it might impact your life, and how long it lasts.
