Shingles is a painful, blistering rash that typically lasts 7 to 10 days and usually resolves within 2 to 4 weeks.¹

Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), a complication of shingles, is pain that can last for months or even years in the area where the shingles rash occurred. PHN occurs in 10% to 18% of people with shingles.²
